- Due to higher level of dedication to maintain a clean work environment, the dust generation has been reduced and hence the absenteeism towards health issues has come down.
- Previously the attrition rate of our factory was 5 to 6%, once the factory. Now, due to a neat and safe work atmosphere, the outlook has changed and the attrition rate has become Zero with no vacancies.
- Regarding safety, the accident rate has been Zero for 3 Months. This is a result of the awareness on the need for safe work practices and also due to avoidance of loose wirings, machines without guards & closed electrical plugholes. Further, the fire extinguishers have been color coded with clear operating instructions.
- It has been clearly instilled in every employee’s mind that, it is his responsibility to ensure the safety of his subordinates and his own.
- Implementation of Standard Operating Parameters has given an uniform guideline of work practices and also has helped the new employees to understand the practices and procedures easily.
- 5S implementation has improved the Team Work among the employees and has resulted in adapting better analytical methods, creative means of communication and resource conservation measures like, Data Collection, Trend Graph Preparation, Performing Skit and ENCON.
- In Production area, breakdown has been reduced.
- Changeover time has been reduced by streamlining operations.
- Utilization of Space has been done in effective manner.
- Clean workplace is being maintained always.
- Store materials are stored in proper manner, so that inventory level has been maintained efficiently.
- Critical Spares & Bin Card maintenance has increased the stores performance during breakdowns.
- Every individual employee has started to take ownership for his department’s performance.
- In Training Calendar, giving mandatory training on topics like 5S Awareness, Best 5S Practices in other Companies has created higher awareness and has also increased the competitive attitude.
- Being a part of the self-audits management team and/or the steering committee has made the staffs feel empowered and more responsible.
- The idea of implementing 5S in Home and School has many benefits like,
- In the houses, it gives a sense of pride to the family members when several guests and company officials visit their house; appreciate the effort of the family members for successfully implementing 5S practices. They also feel proud among the neighborhood when they receive gifts/prices for successful implementation of 5S.
- In schools, the Head Master, and the teachers feel that implementation 5S has made the process of record maintenance much easier. They also feel that 5S culture must reach all schools, so that self-discipline of children will improve
