We organized a Special Meeting for management people of various industries around Coimbatore to brief about the benefits Total Quality management and QCFI activities for this probagation on 11-10-11 at Hotel Residency.
Mr.Kovaichelvan,Sr vicepresident, HR from TVS Motors hosur , addressed the gathering of about 100 persons on the topic Total Employee Involvement for sustainable growth and shared his company’s experience.This was followed by a lecture on the Role of QCFI for the probagation of quality concepts by Mr.B.Balakrishnan, Director,QCFI.There was very good interaction from the audience. Mr.Sethu, Chairman of Coimbatore Productivity Council attended and gave a special speech.
Our chapter Chairman Mr W.S.Satchidanandham presided over the meeting. Chapter Secretary Mr.Sankarasubramanian proposed vote of thanks.

MADURAI CHAPTER’ S 21ST CONVENTION
REPORT ON MADURAI CHAPTER’ S 21ST CONVENTION ON 14TH AND 15TH OCT 11 AT COIMBATORE.
This was conducted in collaboration with PSG Institute of Management , Coimbatore at their campus on 14th and 15th October 11.
109 teams (72 from Madurai Chapter and 37 teams of other chapters) comprising 663 delegates representing39 industries took part in this 2 day convention. Case study presentations were held at 5 halls concurrently and all other competitions in the 6th hall.
Valedictory function was held at the Assembly Hall of PSG tech, on 15th October 2011. This was presided over by our Chapter chairman Mr W.S. Satchidanandam. Chindanai Kavinger Dr.Kavidasan, director Roots Industries, Coimbatore delivered Valedictory address . Our executive director Mr. D.K.Srivastava was the guest of honour and delivered Special address.Dr . Nandagopal, director ,PSGInstitute of Management was a Special guest. All the three guests distributed the prizes.
Mr. Dharmalingam, G.M.Quality,BHEL,Tiruchi received the Best Supporting organization trophy(public sector) and Mr Prabakaran,G.M. Bannari Amman Group of Mills received the Best Supporting organization trophy(private sector) from the Chief Guest Dr kavidasan.

Quality Circle Forum of India - Madurai chapter:
Quality Circle Forum of India - Madurai chapter is one of the very active chapters of the forum. Madurai chapter was established in 1991 and has won best Chapter awards five times and won several other awards for various activities. Madurai chapter has been succeesfully spreading all these concepts in the southern part of Tamilnadu in several industries, schools, banks, hospitals etc.
Our clients are , Sri Govindaraja Group of Mills, Sri Jayajothy &co Spinning and OE units, Bannari amman Spg Mills, Shiva texyarn ltd, ATK Textiles, Renuga textiles, Sharada terry products, and Super spinning mills, Karpagambal mills,Madras cements, India cements, Chettinadu cements,DCW,. Sterlite , Malco, Shasun chemicals, TVSSrichakra,Hitech Arai , Fenner, Sundaram Industries, BHEL, Salem Steel plant, Neyveli Lignite corporationTVS school, SBOA school, Meenakshi hospitals, Canara bank etc.
Madurai Chapter introduced Total Quality Management to engineering college students through week end classes. SACS MAVMM college utilized this offer effectively and this enabled all the students to get very good placements in industry. The success of this program was instrumental to introduce TQM as compulsory subject for all branches of engineering colleges of Anna University from last year.
We have full fledged trained faculty who have very good industrial experience. We hosted National Convention at Madurai during Dec 2003. This convention shattered all the previous records both in terms of number of delegates and also number of QC teams. We were able to generate sufficient funds for establishing an office for the chapter. Now we have purchased a flat and set up our office.
We have given Five S certification to Sri Govindaraja Mills, Aruppukottai Sri Jayajothy & co Spinning Mills at Rajapalyam and OE Division at Virudunagar, Bannari Amman spinning Mills , Dindugal.
We are regularly conducting our annual chapter convention on these Quality Concepts at different locations as our area is very vast.We hosted our first Chapter convention at Madurai in 1991 wherein 25 Quality circles with 200 delegates took part. We had successfully hosted this convention 5 times in Madurai, 4 times in Courtallam, one time each in kanyakumari, Sahupuram , pandalkudi, RRnagar, Tiruchi,Salem, Coimbatore, Kodaikanal. OOty, Munnar.In the last Convention at Munnar 95 circles consisting around 565 delegates took part. Many teams from North India are also coming and taking part in our convention and giving the colour of mini national convention.
This year we are planning to host our 20th chapter convention at Coimbatore. We expect around 650 delegates to take part representing 50 industries. We will be conducting competitions in Quality circles, Five S, kaizenn, TPM etc in 4 different halls concurrently.

About Quality Circle
Quality Circle concept is one of the best modern Quality concepts implemented by many World class organizations. The practice of this concept helps the management to bring out the hidden talents of grass root employees , develop their knowledge and transform their work culture towards betterment. In the process organizations are also getting benefited since these circles solve their departmental problems and implement them in the shop floor.
About 6/8 first line employees working from the same work area join together and form these circles. They are given special training on the method of Quality Circle operation utilizing various Problem Solving Techniques. They meet once in a week for one hour to Identify work related problems, Collect data, Discuss and analyze using various techniques , Develop solutions and Implement them after conducting trials. Thus they contribute towards organizational growth also.
Quality concept was developed by Dr. Ishikawa in Japan in 1962 and this concept was the foundation for the development of many other popular concepts like FIVE S, KAIZEN, TPM , etc which had helped Japan to achieve the status of producers of World best Quality Products.
Quality Circle Forum of India: This concept was brought to India by BHEL, Hyderabad during 1981.by Mr S.R Udpa. Then QUALITY CIRCLE FORUM of INDIA was established in 1982 with Hyderabad as its Headquarters for the propagation and training. QCFI has developed course materials, published several books and expanded its activities in spreading other modern Quality concepts also.
QCFI has formed 20 chapters through which they conduct in-house programs in various industries, Schools, banks, hospitals, police stations, Govt offices etc.To name a few,BHEL, NTPC, Steel plants, TVS companies, TISCO, Bajaj, HeroHonda, Bombay dying, Reliance etc.
Apart from this training, QCFI also conducts Annual conventions both at Chapter and National level wherein Quality Circles teams from various industries present their achievements in the form of Case studies. Independent panel of Judges evaluate them and give awards for the teams to recognize their achievements and motivate them. QCFI publishes a house a Quarterly journal Quality Circle India and circlulates them among its members. These conventions are serving as a platform for exchange of ideas between practitioners and potential practitioners.
QCFI is a part of 12 nation body established for the purpose of sharing our experiences with other countries. Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Srilanka are some of them. QCFI is also propagating FIVE S in a big way in all types of industries had which had helped them to reduce costs, breakdowns and improve quality and also to establish visible impact in short span of time. QCFI is not only giving training on FIVE S , but also helps the organizations for successful implementation and also gives CERTIFICATION on FIVE S practice. All NTPC and all Parle units including the contract manufacturing units are using our services and getting benefited.
